Vice President of External Affairs
As Vice President of External Affairs, Michelle DeMott directs the agency's strategic relationships and communications with Federal, State, and City entities and community partners. Through her work, Ms. DeMott develops plans to further enhance the agency's existing network of partnerships and alliances. On behalf of the agency, she promotes advocacy campaigns and provides testimony on key social policy issues for the substance use, homeless, mental health, and human services fields.
Ms. DeMott has more than 25 years of experience in the behavioral and primary health care, substance use treatment, harm reduction, and criminal justice fields. She served as the Regional Director of Operations for Brightpoint Health’s Brooklyn/Queens Adult Day Health Care Programs. While there, she facilitated programmatic redesign, initiated and implemented the transition of services into Medicaid Managed Care, and directed operations in the planning and delivery of client services.
Ms. DeMott also worked in community corrections as the Program Director for Brooklyn TASC (Treatment Alternatives for Safer Communities) and Probation Officer with the NYC Department of Probation. While in the field, she led numerous other initiatives for individuals involved with the justice system.
Ms. DeMott holds an M.A. in Social Policy with a concentration in Drug Policy from SUNY Empire State College, and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Long Island University/C.W. Post where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
